The eFields program at The Ohio State University is dedicated to improving agricultural production through extensive field-scale research. Utilizing advanced technology and data, it conducts on-farm research aimed at educating farmers and advisors about the benefits of new practices and technologies in enhancing agricultural efficiency and profitability.

The program emphasizes delivering actionable, data-driven insights promptly and relevantly. Its current projects focus on refining nutrient management, enhancing fertilizer placement, enabling on-farm assessments, automating farm equipment, and improving pesticide and seed application. Furthermore, eFields is developing tools for digital agriculture to advance analytical processes.

The annual eFields report featuring on-farm research trials from across the state of Ohio is now available.

Growers interested in participating in on-farm research trials for the eFields annual research report should contact their local county Agriculture and Natural Resources Extension Educator, as listed on the ANR contact page. Information about educators can be found on the eFields People page. Guidelines and examples for conducting studies are available on the Study Implementation page

The program is open to customizing additional protocols and topics to meet specific needs, and growers are encouraged to inquire about research beyond standard protocols. Current Educators or Specialists who want to engage with eFields on-farm research can contact the program at digitalag@osu.edu or Dr. Elizabeth Hawkins at hawkins.301@osu.edu. The program also actively seeks new industrial partners for on-farm research trials and welcomes inquiries from those interested in collaborating with the eFields program.
