Forecasting Ohio's Future in the Era of Climate Change
State Climatologist of Ohio Aaron Wilson, recently spoke with WTGV 13 in Toledo, Ohio, about how climate change affects Ohio. Wilson explained that weather extremes are the manifestation of a globally changing climate, contributing to rising temperatures and moisture, which storms feed off of.
Ohio weather will be like Arkansas, with more 100-degree summers and rare snowfall in the winter. “We know that it’s getting warmer,” said Wilson. “Two to three degrees Fahrenheit over the last 60 to 70 years.”
Heat, extreme rainfall, flooding, and rising sea levels will result in migration as the Great Lakes are often touted as the place to go.
Wilson says The Ohio State University students are up for the challenge and motivated to find solutions to improve our future world.
