The H2Ohio Wetlands Monitoring Program is assessing how effective restored and constructed wetlands throughout Ohio are at filtering the polluting nutrients that fuel harmful algal blooms out of our watersheds. This talk will give an overview of wetland ecosystem science and the monitoring program’s early results!

Lauren Kinsman-Costello is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Kent State University. She studies wetlands and how they work in a variety of settings including the Alaskan arctic and the Great Lakes region. Dr. Kinsman-Costello is the research lead of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources-funded H2Ohio Wetlands Monitoring Program.
